Terminals at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)

Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) has 4 terminals, with a total of 9 concourses and 213 boarding gates. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected via a walkway. Terminal 5 is independent and separated from the others. To reach other terminals from here, you can access taxiways, shuttles, or the Airport Transit system.

Terminals at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)

The Chicago O’Hare airport is located 17 miles from downtown Chicago. It features multiple terminals, which are designed to accommodate millions of passengers annually. The airport features 4 active terminals- Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5. These terminals handles flights from major domestic and international carriers. Besides these terminals offers modern amenities and a range of shopping and dining options.

In addition, the ORD Airport is hexagonal shaped with Terminals 1, 2, and 3 on its three  bottom sides,  The parking lots, car rental facility, and transportation plaza on the three top sides.

Terminal 1 to 3 serves domestic airlines and are connected via a pedestrian walkway.

Terminal 1

One of the domestic terminals at O’Hare Airport comprises two concourses – B, and C. Concourse B is connected to the main terminal. On the other hand, Concourse C, also known as satellite concourse, connected via an underground pedestrian tunnel.

Terminal 1 has a total of 54 gates. Concourse B has gates numbered B1 to B12, B14, B16, B16A, B17, B17A, and B18 to B24. Concourse C includes boarding gates gates C1 to C16, C16A, C17, C18, and C19 to C31.

Both concourse has plenty of shopping and dining options. Concourse C houses United Polaris Lounge, as Terminal 1 is the primary hub for United Airlines. The terminal also serves Lufthansa and All Nippon Airways.

Terminal 2

One of the ORD Terminals that serves domestic carriers, features 41 boarding gates across two concourses. Concourse E includes gates E1 to E17. Concourse F consists of gates F1, F3 to F7, F9 to F12, F14 to F17, and F19 to F28.

Both concourse is mostly used for United Airlines. Other carriers serve here as a primary hub, such as Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue.

Terminal 3

Terminal 3 at O’Hare International Airport is a much bigger terminal than Terminals 1 and 2. It features 76 gates and four concourses.

• Concourse G has gates numbered between G1A, G1B, G2A, G2B, G3 to G5, G6B, G7 to G14, G14A, G16 to G19, G19A, G20, and G21.
• Concourse H has gates H1, H1A, H2 to H6, H8 to H10, H11A, H11B, H12, and H14 to H18.
• Concourse K has gates K1 to K6, K8 to K10, K12, K13, K15, K16, and K18 to K20.
• Concourse L has gates L1, L1B, L2A, L2C, L3 to L5, L6A, L6B, L7 to L9, L10A, L10B, L10C, L11, L11A, and L11B.

Terminal 3 has the Admirals Club lounge on Concourses G and L. On the other hand, Concourses H and K feature American Airlines Flagship Lounges for premium passengers.

In addition, Terminal 3 is the primary hub for American Airlines, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, and Spirit Airlines.

Terminal 5

Chicago O’Hare Airport Terminal 5 serves mostly international carriers. All depart from Terminal 5 operate from Concourse M, which features 36 gates. Before security, these gates are numbered M1 to M11, M13 to M20, M20A, M21, M24 to M30, and M32 to M40.

After passing through security, gates M13 to M17 are located across from the security checkpoint. Gates M18 to M40 are located to the left, and gates M1 to M11 are on the right.

ORD Terminal 5 is the major hub for Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, and Southwest Airlines flights. The terminal also handles other international airlines that do not operate from Terminals 1 and 3.
